Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q. Who is TeenWorks for?

A. All 6th to 8th graders.

Q.  How do I join?

A. Print off the pledge form, sign it and bring it to one of the meetings or to the recreation office, or simply attend a TeenWorks meeting, where you can get a pledge form to sign. Information is also provided at the recreation office located in Tiburon Town Hall.

Q.  When and where are the meetings?

A. TeenWorks meetings are held two Thursdays per month immediately after school at Del Mar Middle School. Members will receive an email with a calendar each month. The meetings are optional. Members can still volunteer at our events even if they are unable to make it to the meetings. Those that are able to make the meetings will get points towards the end of year trip.

The meetings are only around 10 minutes long and we discuss upcoming events.

Q. Who is the contact for TeenWorks?

A. The director of the TeenWorks program is Curt "Moose" Jackson, who is the teen and special events recreation coordinator for Belvedere-Tiburon Recreation.

Q. How does the program work?

A. Any middle school student can join TeenWorks and agree to be held accountable to their pledge by participating in monthly community service projects, member meetings, workshops, fundraisers and social activities (parents must also agree and consent that their pre-teen/teen can participate). Active members are awarded for their participation based on a point system, where points are accrued for participation in the various monthly activities. Members obtaining a certain number of points are eligible for free admission to The Zone and an end of year trip to Great America.

Q. How much does it cost to participate in TeenWorks?

A. Good news! It doesn’t cost a dime to participate in the Teenworks program. The program is subsidized partially by Belvedere-Tiburon Recreation and partially by the 6th grade dances we offer.
