Classes at Del Mar

 

GUITAR & BASS LESSONS
Instructor: Max Abrahams
Grades: 4 - 8

Begin learning, or expanding your knowledge of guitar or bass. A Tiburon native, Max Abrahams is an experienced music instructor who has worked with students of all levels and ages. Each student has different needs, so each lesson will be individually tailored to cover the musical interests of each particular student. Learn how to how to play your favorite songs, read music, learn music theory, and have fun playing music. Payment for music classes will be made on an ongoing basis, on the 1st of each month. In order to properly accommodate the music instructors, one month advance notice is necessary to cancel music lessons.

This sewing class starts with the basics and progressively teaches students new sewing skills. This class introduces a new project every week. The students learn the no pattern techniques. They will create an embroidered tote bag, pillows, placemat, back pack, an apron, Sport shirt, and accessories. We provide all the equipment, tools and instructions for your projects as well as the embellishments, fabric and
notions needed according to the project requirements. No experience necessary.

FOCUS ON YOUR WORLD - PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Instructors: Trudi Unger

Focus on your world with this extracurricular photography class that emphasizes using the camera for creative enrichment, development of personal vision, and self-discovery.

Taught by professional photographer and university instructor Trudi Unger (trudiunger.com), students learn how to bring their individuality and unique perspective to their immediate world. Through photo exercises, and assignments students will photograph their everyday activities. Students will keep a written and photographic journal, and write about their experiences photographing, and focusing on their immediate world. At class end they will have a finished photo book/journal to cherish for years to come.

THIS COURSE IS GOOD FOR: Students with little or no formal photography training. While participants must have a working knowledge of their camera or smart phone, the creative process is emphasized over the mechanics of its use.

BABYSITTING CLASS

Ages: 11 - 15

Become a certified babysitter! This four hour course is designed for pre-teens and teens interested in learning how to care for younger children. You will learn how to administer first aid, diapering and feeding techniques, handling bedtime issues, interviewing for a babysitting job, choosing safe, age appropriate toys/games and much more. Each participant will receive a certificate of course completion.

This 3 hour American Safety and Health Institute course includes adult, child and infant CPR, plus choke-saving. A certificate of completion will be provided to all students upon completion of the class. CPR cards provided following admin processing. Pre-registration required. This class is not sufficient for health care professionals or continuing ed credits. Ages 13 +.

Middle School Lunchtime Activities

In partnership with Del Mar Middle School, Belvedere-Tiburon Recreation will provide recreation activities during lunchtime throughout the school year. The goal of this partnership is to facilitate productive time during the student’s lunch break. Some of the activities offered include basketball, bingo, board games, tournaments and much more!
