POLICIES
Getting to Academy Club After-School The recreation staff will pick up kindergarteners enrolled in Academy Club at 2:00pm, except on Wednesdays when they will be picked up at 1:00pm due to the RUSD early dismissal schedule. First & second graders are responsible for meeting the recreation staff at the lower lunch area promptly after-school.
Registration You may register your child to participate for one day of the week, any combination of days of the week or all five days of the week. The full fee per child for each day is required to secure your child’s space. When registering choose one class at 2:30pm and one class at 3:30pm except on Wednesdays when the class times are 1:30pm and 2:30pm to accommodate the RUSD early dismissal schedule.
Transfer and Refund Policies Transfers from one class to another will be processed for a $15 fee per transfer if requested prior to the beginning of the second class. Transfers are honored provided space is still available in the class. Registrations are nontransferable to a friend or family member.
Refunds will be processed less a $25 fee. If requested prior to the beginning of the second class, the cost of the first class will also be charged. After that, there are no refunds. There are no make-up dates offered for Academy Club days missed by participants. Participants will only be allowed to participate on days they are registered.
Pick Up & Late Fees At the conclusion of Academy Club, parents are responsible for picking up their children at the lower car line. Please pick up children promptly. A late fee of $5.00 per each 10 minutes of lateness will be assessed for late pick-ups. You can pick up your child at the art room, if you arrive early.
Coordination with Childcare The recreation staff will pick up children from the BTCCC at 2:30pm for participation in Academy Club and bring children back to the childcare facility upon conclusion of Academy Club. You must notify us if your child attends the BTCCC. Please make arrangements with the Belvedere-Tiburon Childcare Center to have your child released from their care to attend Academy Club.
Absence Notification Penalty In order for staff to maximize instruction time it’s necessary to call Belvedere-Tiburon Recreation at 435-4355 if your child is going to be absent. Failure to give advance notice if your child is going to be absent will result in a $10 non-notification fee being assessed.
Extended Care The intent of our extended care program is to provide working parents a safe, enriching place for their children to play or do homework in an organized but fl exible environment after recreation classes. The transition between recreation activities and extended care will be seamless because your child will remain with the recreation staff for the extended care program.
Registration for extended care is on a seasonal basis. You may register for one day or all five days, Monday though Friday. You may pick your child up at the art room any time before 6:00pm. An additional snack will be provided.

STORY-TIME ART 2:30PM Flex your artistic muscle with the help of some of your favorite books. We’ll read a story together and then use the book as a springboard to create exciting art projects. See what wonders you can make with the inspiration of your favorite books. BASKETBALL 2:30PM Rise up for a jump shot. Slice to the basket for a lay up or soar in for a slam-dunk. Through skill building drills, contests and games, instructors will hone your dribbling, passing and shooting technique in an atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship. MUSIC MAKERS 3:30PM Come join our makeshift band! No experience necessary. In this exciting new class, we’ll take everyday objects like toilet paper rolls and beans to build our own instruments from scratch. At the end, we’ll put it all together for a little musicmaking. With homemade maracas, drums and tambourines, it’s sure to be a blast! SPORTS FESTIVAL 3:30PM Join us for the festival of sports! A great class for the child who wants to try new and different sports each week. The recreation staff will instruct students in favorites such as soccer, basketball and baseball as well as introducing new sports like ultimate frisbee, track and field and more.

LAND OF THE DINOSAURS 2:30pm Take a journey back to the days of dinosaurs to discover the exciting life of these amazing beasts! Learn about all the different types of “terrible lizards” that roamed the planet. Explore the reasons that these magnificent animals became extinct as we go back in time to the days when “dinosaurs ruled the earth.” STREET HOCKEY 2:30pm Flip the puck top shelf or blast one through the five hole. Our most popular after school sports class returns for those intrigued by this fast paced game. Plastic sticks, plastic pucks and sneakers are substituted for wood sticks, rubber pucks and skates, but the speed, skill and excitement remain for our street hockey enthusiasts. CLAY CREATIONS 3:30pm Get ready to mold magical characters, create objects of beauty and sculpt fascinating creatures that you can paint, display or take home. You’ll be able to create anything from animals and flowers to people and cars. Express your creativity through this sculpting adventure! KICKBALL 3:30pm Get ready for the oldest playground game around! Kickball is a fun and engaging game that encourages teamwork and sportsmanship. Anyone can play kickball and feel a sense of accomplishment.

CLASSIC PAINTERS & PAINTING 1:30pm Become Monet, Picasso or O’Keefe for a day. Let your imaginations soar with some of the greatest artists of all time. We’ll explore the world of classic painters by painting water lilies, abstracts, flowers and more. Get ready to push up your sleeves and get creative with all the colors of the rainbow in the tradition of the classics. Please make sure students wear appropriate clothing for painting. SOCCER 1:30pm Improve the soccer skills of passing, scoring, defense and goal-tending in this weekly class. Through drills and games, you will enhance your game in a supportive atmosphere where good sportsmanship and teamwork are emphasized and everyone’s efforts are applauded. SILLY SNACKS 2:30pm Does your mom tell you not to play with your food? Are you craving yummy after-school snacks? In this class, our mission is to create edible works of art & munch-worthy snacks. You’ll find fun food adventures in each class! No dull stuff allowed-just totally silly snacks! ALL BALL 2:30pm Ball games, ball sports, ball skills and more! All of the games and sports in this class will require a ball. We will use balls of all different shapes and sizes. Baseball, football, dodgeball, and spud are just a few of the games that will be introduced to your child. This is a fun class designed to improve your child’s hand-eye coordination, develop gross motor skills and dexterity.

MYSTERIES, MYTHS AND LEGENDS 2:30pm Join us as we discover the mysteries, myths and legends of the world. We’ll track down Big Foot and try to glimpse the Loch Nes Monster. Learn about the city of Atlantis and the stories of mermaids. Through art, stories, games and crafts, we’ll uncover the mysteries from across the globe! BASEBALL 2:30pm Batter up!! Springtime means baseball. An incredi-ball will be used as our instructor teaches you the proper strategies and techniques of our national pastime including throwing, catching, batting stance, swinging the bat and running the bases, all in an atmosphere of sportsmanship, encouragement and teamwork. TIME TRAVELERS 3:30pm Travel with us as we explore many different time periods through the ages. Using a variety of tools and media we will create crafts that represent different artifacts from each period of time. Traveling through time will be a fun way to learn and tell stories about the past. Some popular destinations include the prehistoric era, ice age, medieval times, and more! SPINNERS 3:30pm The classic sidewalk sport is enjoying a comeback. Jumping rope is a great way to build arm strength, agility, coordination and endurance for both boys and girls. Participants will learn basic maneuvers, tricks and sportsmanship. All you need is a little rope and a little imagination to have fun!

YOUNG ACTORS STUDIO 2:30pm Young Actor’s Studio is designed for the beginning student who is interested in the fun and exciting world of acting. This program helps students make creative choices, develop self-confidence, cooperation skills and communication skills all in a safe and fun environment. The instructor provides an emotionally safe, creative and enjoyable atmosphere while teaching the practical skills of performing on stage. TRACK & FIELD 2:30pm Sprint to the finish line in the 50 yard dash, toss the rubber discus, soar through the air in the long jump, team up with your friends in a relay. Each week will feature a different track & field event. We’ll track your scores and chart your improvement in an effort to challenge yourself. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3:30pm Walk down the gangplank with a parrot on your shoulder, treasure map in hand as you land on the beach to search for hidden treasure. Long John Silver, Blackbeard and Captain Hook beware, because through arts, crafts, stories and games, a new breed of pirate is about to set sail for the seven seas. YOU MAKE THE CALL 3:30pm The kids decide the sport or activity! We could go for a hike, play basketball, freeze tag, kickball, etc. If they can think of it, we’ll give it a try! All of the activities will be safe and properly supervised.
